WHAT IS TRETINOIN AND HOW TO USE IT?

 
 

Many of you have asked me about tretinoin. Here are the benefits, & how to use it.
 
Q:  WHAT IS TRETINOIN?
A:  TRETINOIN is a prescription-strength retinoid ingredient (ask your Dermatologist). It’s a type of Vitamin A.
 
⭐️ It’s important to make the distinction that it’s NOT the same as retinol!  In fact, Tretinoin is 10 to 20 TIMES more potent than retinol.
 
Q: HOW DOES TRETINOIN WORK?
A: It was originally approved for ACNE (in the form of RETIN A) decades ago.
 
⭐️ Later, my Medical School Professor at Harvard (and others) discovered that it also BUILDS COLLAGEN to help thicken skin and soften fine lines.
 
⭐️ It also pushes fresh skin cells to the surface to improve TEXTURE, PORES, & DISCOLORATION 
 
😄 Because of my Professor, I’ve been using it since my early 20s
 
Q: HOW TO USE TRETINOIN?
A: ⭐️ START SLOWLY, especially If you have sensitive skin or eczema, like I do. Start using it twice a week, then Mon, Weds, Fri.  Go up to nightly as tolerated.
 
⭐️ Apply a THIN LAYER AT NIGHT. (MOON & STARS OF SLEEPING IN BED WITH ZZZZZ’S EMOJI) 
⭐️ Wait AT LEAST 20 MINS AFTER WASHING FACE to avoid irritation
 
⭐️ Be sure to WEAR SPF 🕶️☀️
 
⭐️ And DON’T WAX anywhere you use TRETINOIN  or else you may rip off skin, leaving “Groucho Marx” scabs under or over your brows/upper lip. (Yes, sadly, this happened to a bride once.)
