LETTER TO MY YOUNGER SELF
What would younger me have thought of the person I’ve become?
I’d like to think baby Jessica would be proud of the path I’ve taken and amazed by the grit and sheer volume of work it’s taken to get here.
Looking back, here’s what I would have told her:
⭐️ Ugly duckling days are a prelude to your swan era. (This can apply at any age.)
⭐️ What makes you weird will be your superpower.
⭐️ If you don’t have a seat at the table, make one. (The story about my poetry seminar in medical school is true — it was taught by Nobel laureate Salvador Luria.)
⭐️ You’ll regret *not* doing something more than you’ll regret trying. So take that chance!
Most of all, have as much FUN as you can and enjoy the ride — we only get one. ❤️
