How Food Affects Your Skin.

When what you eat manifests itself on your skin, in the form of pimples, rashes, or wrinkles, the culprit is almost always sugar – blood sugar, that is.  Virtually everything you eat gets broken down into glucose (sugar) for your body to use as fuel.  That sugar travels throughout your body via your bloodstream. Too much sugar – a “sugar high” – can make you feel nervous or jittery, while not enough sugar leaves you woozy and nauseous.  In an attempt to avoid these wild highs and lows, your pancreas produces insulin, which is like the yin to sugar’s yang, the Siegfried to its Roy. (Glucose, by the way, is not the same as table sugar, so your blood sugar can still surge wildly even after eating foods that aren’t necessarily sweet, such as salty and savory snacks that are full of starch.)
